Lithuania's Ministry of Defense has signed contracts totaling €36 million for the purchase of various types of UAVs. According to the source LRT, the Defense Resources Agency has entered agreements with several companies:

  1. Edge Autonomy (Latvia) for the supply of small reconnaissance drones.
  2. Threod Systems (Estonia) for the acquisition of mini reconnaissance drones.
  3. Deftools (Lithuania) for the purchase of micro drones.

The majority of these UAVs are scheduled to be delivered this autumn, with the remaining expected in early 2025. These purchases are being made urgently to swiftly enhance Lithuania's UAV capabilities and integrate them into their armed forces.

Acquiring and deploying UAVs is a critical priority for Lithuania in modernizing its armed forces. The development of this capability, initiated over 15 years ago, is gaining momentum, as noted in the ministry's statement.

Looking ahead, Lithuania plans to allocate approximately €200 million by 2030 for acquiring various unmanned systems, with an average annual allocation of about €30 million.
