Oleksiy Reznikov has submitted his resignation from the position of Minister of Defense.
He announced this in a social media post on Monday, September 4.
He published a photo of his resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk.
'In accordance with the decision of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, I have submitted a letter of resignation to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. I am ready for accountability. Let's stay in formation!' he wrote.
In his statement, he briefly mentioned his tenure as the minister.
'An arduous path has been traveled. From categorically refusing to provide Stingers to Ukraine in November 2021, when I was just appointed as the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, to the formation of the 'aviation coalition,' the provision of modern tanks, air defense systems, long-range missiles, armored vehicles, artillery, MLRS, and other types of modern Western weapons,' Reznikov noted.
According to the minister, one of Ukraine's current key priorities is building a long-term partnership with key allies to ensure real security guarantees and the ability to defend itself. Reznikov added that he is ready to report on his work.
