Six servicemen were killed and more than ten wounded as a result of a Russian missile strike on a shooting range in the Sumy region.
This was reported by the National Guard of Ukraine.
The National Guard command and law enforcement agencies will give a strict legal assessment of the actions of all officials based on the results of the inspection and investigation of the tragic incident that occurred yesterday due to the missile strike in Sumy region, the statement says.
As a result of the strike, during training exercises at the military unit’s shooting range, six servicemen died and more than ten were injured.
"The National Guard command had previously developed action algorithms and issued all necessary orders regarding procedures under the threat of air strikes, as well as measures to prevent safety violations and crowding of personnel," the statement says.
An official investigation is underway regarding the tragedy. The commander of the military unit has been suspended, and necessary information has been handed over to law enforcement agencies.
Within the investigation, a legal assessment will be given to the actions of all persons who made the relevant decisions, emphasized the National Guard.
The National Guard of Ukraine will provide all necessary information and assistance.
