Norway will continue to unequivocally support Ukraine in the field of sports. This was stated by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Equality of Norway, Erlend Hansvold, during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine for European Integration, Andriy Chesnokov, on the sidelines of the "Play the Game 2024" conference in Trondheim, Norway.
On behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Matviy Bidnyi, his deputy thanked the Norwegian side for comprehensive support to Ukrainian athletes in Norway during training and competitions, open opportunities for sports activities for Ukrainians who have found temporary refuge in this country, as well as assistance in reforming the domestic sports sector.
The interlocutors discussed further joint steps at the intergovernmental level in the fight against the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international sports competitions in light of the recent decisions of the International Olympic Committee.
