Since August 2023, the ports of Odessa region, operating through the Ukrainian maritime corridor, have handled over 146.5 million tons of cargo, according to Dmytro Nazarenko, head of the Odessa branch of the State Enterprise “Sea Ports Administration of Ukraine” (AMPU).
During this period, 5,596 vessels were processed, including 1,528 through the port of Odessa.
These figures were presented at a roundtable of maritime and port industry representatives during the BALTEXPO 2025 International Maritime and Military Exhibition in Gdańsk, Poland. At the event, Ukraine also showcased infrastructure projects at the Odessa port and plans for their further development, inviting international investors to cooperate.
Nazarenko reported that since the full-scale war began, over 500 port infrastructure facilities and 116 civilian vessels have been damaged or destroyed, with 161 objects affected directly within the Odessa seaport.
“Despite all challenges, Ukrainian seaports remain an integral part of the country’s economic resilience. Their security is not only a matter of logistics but of sustaining Ukraine’s export model,” he noted.
Ukraine’s seaports handled 18.5 million tons of ore cargo in 2024. The total cargo turnover reached a record 97.2 million tons compared to 62 million tons in 2023, with exports totaling 88.1 million tons. From January to December 2024, the Ukrainian maritime corridor processed 79.9 million tons of cargo, 76.4 million tons of which were exports, with 3,138 vessels using the route.
