The Polish company Mesko has increased its small-caliber ammunition production capacity fivefold — from 50 million to 250 million rounds per year.
This was reported by Defence24.pl.
Thanks to four new production lines, the factory produces one million cartridges per working day.
The new lines, which have already been launched, are located in a new workshop officially opened on Friday, June 13, with the participation of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
It is reported that the facility in Skarżysko-Kamienna was built as part of a comprehensive investment project called Projekt 400, implemented since 2019 and co-financed with public funds. The total budget of the project is 466.7 million zlotys, of which 400 million comes from the reprivatization fund of the Ministry of State Assets.
Projekt 400 includes over 1,000 units of equipment and devices and more than 20 facilities in Skarżysko-Kamienna and Pionki.
Mesko is also implementing Projekt 44.7, aimed at achieving maximum possible independence in ammunition production from foreign powder supplies.
During the opening of the new workshop, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called Mesko — which produces, among other things, the Piorun MANPADS and licensed Israeli Spike anti-tank missile systems — a pride of the Polish defense industry.
