Polish farmers' organizations are planning a demonstration on January 3 in Warsaw to protest the EU-Mercosur free trade agreement and the import of Ukrainian agricultural products into Poland.

According to Farmer.p, the protesters will picket the European Commission's office in Warsaw and the National Opera Theater, where the official ceremony marking Poland's EU presidency will take place on Friday.

The protest is being organized by over 20 agricultural organizations united under the "Association of Agricultural Organizations."

"We are protesting against the harmful policies of the European Union and Ursula von der Leyen, who imposes policies that will force us to shut down," said Tomasz Obszański, head of the "Solidarity" Farmers' Union.

The slogan "5 x STOP" addresses the following issues:

  • Mercosur (the EU-Mercosur free trade agreement),
  • Green Deal (the European Green Deal),
  • Imports from Ukraine,
  • Destruction of Polish forests and hunting,
  • Shutting down the Polish economy.

This demonstration reflects growing tensions among Polish agricultural communities over EU trade and environmental policies.
