On Friday, the Moldovan government commented on the import of Russian propaganda history textbooks into the unrecognized Transnistria, where Russia's aggression against Ukraine is distortedly presented.

This information comes from a publication on the NewsMaker.

It was previously reported that on October 20, the Russian Cooperation Representation in Moldova, "Russian House," handed over 2,500 copies of textbooks to "young compatriots from Transnistria." NM identified from photographs that among them are textbooks History of the Fatherland for the 9th grade, published in 2023.

In the section titled Modern Russia, this publication contains a set of propagandistic clichés regarding Russian aggression against Ukraine.

For example, the annexation of parts of Ukraine is referred to as "reunification", and full-scale aggression is portrayed as a result of the struggle for the "right to speak the Russian language" and "Kyiv's policy of terror."

Moldova's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu, and Minister of Education, Dan Perciun, have stated that the transfer of propagandistic textbooks to Transnistria is an "unfriendly gesture by Russia towards Moldovan citizens."

"We will investigate the circumstances under which this occurred and find a solution to prevent such entirely unacceptable gestures that do not contribute to maintaining peace throughout the entire country, including the Transnistrian region," Popescu stated during a press conference on Friday.

Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, also revealed that this shipment of Russian textbooks did not pass through Moldovan customs posts and was most likely brought in "through the diplomatic mission."
