The operation of port logistics has been affected by seasonal slowdown in export activity at the end of the marketing year.
This was reported by Spike Brokers.
The slowdown in export activity has significantly impacted port logistics, resulting in a sharp reduction in rail freight volumes toward the ports of Odessa region and Izmail.
As of June 5, the average daily unloading of railcars at the ports of Odessa region decreased by 282 cars per day — down to 755 cars per day. At the same time, the number of railcars heading to these ports dropped significantly: over the week, this figure fell by 1,137 cars — to 2,274 units.
In the direction of the port of Izmail, freight traffic has practically stopped — the number of railcars decreased by 59, down to zero. The unloading of grain railcars also declined — by 3 cars per day, down to 17 cars per day.
Rates in the grain logistics market remain stable; however, the situation with railway tariffs keeps the market in a “floating” state, partly due to uncertainty about Ukrzaliznytsia’s policies. This creates additional difficulties for signing long-term contracts since forecasts for the cost of transport services remain uncertain.
