Russian forces attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles, including Iskanders, on the night of July 21. Air defense shot down only 35 drones.
This was reported by the Commander of the Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk.
"On the night of July 21, the enemy launched an attack with three Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Kursk region and Crimea, and two X-59/69 guided aviation missiles from the airspace of the Kursk region," he said.
Furthermore, according to him, Russia deployed 39 Shahed strike UAVs from three directions: Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and the temporarily occupied Crimea.
"Last night, the air defense managed to shoot down 35 enemy Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs. Thanks to active countermeasures, the enemy's X-59/69 guided aviation missiles did not reach their targets," Oleshchuk noted.
As the general added, during the night attack, the Air Force's radio-technical troops detected and tracked air targets in more than 10 regions of Ukraine.
To repel the air attack, mobile fire unit divisions from all Ukrainian Defense Forces, as well as anti-aircraft missile forces and electronic warfare units, were involved.
"Air defense was active in the Sumy, Poltava, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Odessa, and Cherkasy regions," he concluded.
