Russians are amassing forces in the Kinburn Spit area, likely in an attempt to prevent a possible crossing of the Dnipro River by Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This was reported by the spokesperson for the Defense Forces of the South, Vladyslav Voloshyn, during a telethon broadcast.
"Most likely, according to our intelligence, they are concentrating forces there (in the Kinburn Spit area) to strengthen their defense. They are enhancing fortifications and transferring defensive weapons there to prevent the Ukrainian Defense Forces from crossing the Dnipro River," Voloshyn explained.
He clarified that the occupiers fear a potential landing of Ukrainian forces on the Tendra Spit and especially on the Kinburn Spit. They aim to maintain control over the Dnipro estuary and the Dnipro islands, where intense battles are currently underway.
Dmytro Pletenchuk, the spokesperson for the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, noted that Russian control over the Kinburn Spit enables them to shell Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.
Additionally, it poses a threat to ships that could potentially enter the waters of the Dnipro-Buh estuary.
