Tonight, on May 8, Russian forces again launched a massive attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The strikes targeted six regions.
This was reported by Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko and the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Ivan Fedorov, and from UkrEnergo.
"The enemy does not abandon plans to deprive Ukrainians of electricity. Another massive attack on our energy infrastructure," he wrote.
According to Halushchenko's information, the attacked facilities for generating and transmitting electricity are located in the Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Vinnytsia regions.
"The enemy wants to deprive us of the ability to produce and transmit electricity sufficiently," the minister noted, urging Ukrainians to use electricity sparingly, especially during the morning and evening hours.
The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration reported hits on critical and civilian infrastructure objects.
"There is destruction. Preliminarily, without casualties," wrote Fedorov.
UkrEnergo reports strikes on the energy sector in five regions: Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, and Poltava.
Equipment at one of the generation facilities in the central region has been damaged.
Earlier, the Poltava Regional State Administration reported that despite the successful work of air defense forces during the massive Russian drone attack, there were hits on energy infrastructure objects in the Poltava region.
During the Russian nighttime attack with drones and cruise missiles, explosions were also heard:
- in Kharkiv and Poltava regions,
- in Zaporizhzhia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions,
- in Lviv region,
- in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
