The Minister of Defense of Ukraine held a meeting with his Latvian counterpart, Andris Sprud, in Brussels, where they discussed further military cooperation between the two countries.

Rustem Umerov expressed gratitude to Latvia for its steadfast military and financial support for Ukraine.

“I received assurances from Mr. Sprud regarding the continuation of assistance both on the battlefield and on our path to NATO,” the Ukrainian Minister of Defense stated.

The parties confirmed Latvia's commitment to allocate 0.25% of its GDP, amounting to €120 million, to support Ukraine. Additionally, they discussed expanding the Coalition of Drones initiative, in which Latvia continues to play a leading role.

“I thanked Latvia separately for its leadership in this initiative,” emphasized Rustem Umerov.

The ministers agreed to work together to enhance the effectiveness of drone usage and coordinated mechanisms for directing funds toward the procurement of long-range drones for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
