Spain has begun transferring a new batch of military aid to Ukraine. This shipment includes 10 Leopard 2A4 battle tanks, several excavators, and a large quantity of anti-tank missiles.
This was announced by the Spanish Ministry of Defense.
"The multimodal transportation of 10 Leopard 2A4 battle tanks, which have undergone repair, adjustment, and readiness processes at the Santa Bárbara Sistemas plant in Alcalá de Guadaíra, as well as the necessary testing to verify their full functionality, has commenced," the statement reads.
The ministry noted that the new batch of aid will arrive in Poland this weekend, after which it will be delivered to the Ukrainian military.
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine will be responsible for the final stage of transportation within Ukraine, to make it available to the operational units of the Ukrainian army," the statement continues.
It is emphasized that with this new batch of Leopard 2A4 tanks, Spain has delivered a total of 20 such tanks to Ukraine and plans to prepare or deliver another new batch in the second half of 2024.
