The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained another female agent of the Russian military intelligence (commonly known as the GRU) in Kharkiv. The suspect was coordinating missile and bomb strikes by the Russian forces and was awaiting the occupation of the region.
Investigations revealed that the suspect is a 46-year-old unemployed local woman. She came under the radar of Russian intelligence after calling for the storming and capture of Kharkiv on Telegram channels.
After recruitment, her handler sent her a list of locations where she was to “check” possible bases of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
To do this, the suspect passed near the specified sites and conducted surveillance of their external perimeters.
If Ukrainian defenders were spotted, the agent photographed the potential “target” with reference to the surrounding area and marked its coordinates on Google Maps.
SSU officers documented her subversive activities and arrested her.
Additionally, the Security Service took comprehensive measures to secure the locations of the Defense Forces.
During searches, computer equipment and a mobile phone with evidence of her work for Russia were seized.
SSU investigators charged her under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is held in custody without the right to bail. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
