The Security Service of Ukraine has detained an FSB agent operating in the Odessa region. His primary tasks included planning arson attacks on military recruitment offices and Ukrzaliznytsia facilities.
Targeting administrative buildings and service vehicles of local recruitment centers, the agent, a 26-year-old resident of the Izmail district, was recruited remotely by Russian intelligence for monetary compensation.
He conducted reconnaissance to locate military bases and was tasked with setting them on fire using flammable substances. Additionally, he was preparing to ignite relay cabinets near major railway lines.
SSU preemptively identified and arrested the FSB agent while he was scouting near a recruitment center. His anti-Ukrainian comments in pro-Kremlin Telegram channels led to his identification and recruitment.
Communication with the agent occurred through a popular messaging app, where he received instructions on targets and methods. He expected financial compensation from the FSB to be transferred to his cryptocurrency wallet.
During the search of his residence, a mobile phone containing evidence of his activities was seized. He has been charged under Article 111, Part 2 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (state treason during wartime) and remains in custody, facing life imprisonment with property confiscation.
