The State Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained another agent of Russian military intelligence (commonly known as the GRU) in Odessa. The suspect had been providing the Russian forces with coordinates of local Defense Forces facilities and photographing license plates of vehicles parked near these buildings.

According to available information, the Russian forces could have used this data not only to plan new shelling in the region but also for attacks targeting military personnel using those vehicles.

The investigation revealed that the suspect is a local businesswoman. She came under Russian intelligence scrutiny through an acquaintance residing in Russia who works for the GRU.

According to the SSU’s Main Directorate of Internal Security, potential “targets” for the Russian forces included units of the Security Service and Armed Forces of Ukraine involved in combat operations on the southern front.

SSU operatives apprehended the suspect “red-handed” while she was photographing vehicles near a defense facility.

During searches, a smartphone was seized containing intelligence data and evidence of coordination with Russian GRU operatives.

The SSU investigators have charged her under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed during martial law). The suspect remains in custody without the possibility of bail. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
