President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of the European Investment Bank Nadia Calviño, who visited Ukraine for the first time.

The Head of State expressed gratitude to the EIB for its support of the Ukrainian people since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The total amount of assistance provided has already exceeded €2 billion.

"This is significant support, and we look forward to continuing our partnership. I know there is a decision to invest an additional €2 billion this year in projects in Ukraine, which we can count on," the President said.

The key topics of the meeting included supporting the energy sector amid ongoing Russian attacks, building shelters in schools and kindergartens, improving border crossing points, and providing housing for internally displaced persons who lost their homes due to Russian aggression.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, supporting humanitarian projects is especially crucial now, as the suspension of USAID assistance has impacted their implementation.

EIB President Nadia Calviño highlighted the productive cooperation with Ukraine. She noted that the EIB has already accelerated the implementation of various projects, including those for critical infrastructure, water supply, and energy – agreements for which were signed today.

"We have a clear plan for cooperation, and I sincerely hope that soon we will not only be discussing Ukraine’s resilience today but also its long-term prospects," Nadia Calviño said.
