Ukraine and Switzerland are launching 12 infrastructure, social, and humanitarian projects worth over 93 million Swiss francs under an intergovernmental agreement. This was announced by Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko after meeting with Switzerland’s Special Representative for Reconstruction, Jacques Gerber.

“Electricity in frontline cities, new production in Kremenchuk for European-gauge railway fastenings, housing for displaced persons, and modern hospitals for Ukrainians. All of this will be possible thanks to our new joint projects with Swiss businesses. They will not only restore damaged infrastructure but also create jobs, new production facilities, and open economic opportunities for Ukrainian communities,” emphasized Yuliya Svyrydenko.

Projects to be implemented as early as autumn 2025 include:

Energy and Infrastructure

  • Modernization of high-voltage networks in seven frontline regions and training for “Ukrenergo” personnel (Hitachi Energy — CHF 3.7 million);
  • Construction of 11 solar power plants with energy storage for Mykolaiv Vodokanal pumping stations (Elektrobedarf Troller — CHF 1.7 million);
  • Establishing fastening production in Kremenchuk for conversion to European 1435 mm gauge, creating up to 20 new jobs (Schwihag — CHF 14.4 million);
  • Production of contact wires for railway electrification and training for “Ukrzaliznytsia” personnel (Arthur Flury — CHF 12.9 million).

Housing

  • Construction of modular homes for IDPs, local production in Vinnytsia, over 50 new jobs (Divario — CHF 15 million);
  • Modular homes for IDPs in Sumy region, with 95% of components produced in Ukraine (DM Bau — CHF 8.9 million);
  • Replacement of over 32,000 windows in destroyed buildings in Kharkiv and eastern regions (Glas Trösch — CHF 9.9 million).

Education

  • New energy-efficient doors and windows in vocational schools, implementation of practical training programs (Rehau — CHF 4.8 million);
  • Modern sanitary systems and student training in installation, including accessibility for people with disabilities (Geberit — CHF 3.7 million).

Healthcare

  • Construction of a four-story diagnostic laboratory in Lviv and personnel training (Roche Diagnostics — CHF 8.8 million);
  • Ukraine’s first brachytherapy center for cancer treatment in Ivano-Frankivsk, with training for Ukrainian doctors (Innovatec Med — CHF 3 million).

Humanitarian Demining

  • Establishment of a repair workshop, new equipment, and drones to enhance the capabilities of the State Emergency Service (Fondation Suisse de Déminage — CHF 6.4 million).

The Prime Minister highlighted that the initial project budget was 50 million francs. However, due to high business interest—Swiss companies submitted 43 applications totaling over 500 million francs—the budget was nearly doubled. Part of the project costs will be financed by the Swiss private sector.

“I sincerely thank the Swiss government and companies that believe in Ukraine’s reconstruction. This partnership is a vivid example of how international cooperation translates into concrete improvements for our communities and people,” added Yuliya Svyrydenko.
