To restore Ukraine, it is not enough to hold numerous conferences; more attention should be given to specific actions and matters. This viewpoint was expressed by the Ambassador of Denmark to Ukraine, Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, in an interview with EP.
"There are so many conferences on reconstruction and recovery now, but not enough attention is given to specific things. I don't like conferences. We need to act. We can't wait for peace and a grand reconstruction plan. We need to start now," emphasized the ambassador.
According to him, before the war, few Danes had heard of Mykolaiv. Now, they are familiar with at least two cities – Kyiv and Mykolaiv.
"Local residents don't want to receive aid and charity. They want to take care of themselves. They are proud people. They want to quickly restore the operation of their enterprises, and we are paying a lot of attention to making this possible," noted Mikkelsen.
He emphasized that Denmark provides loans and guarantees, but many creditors say they don't want to lend because Mykolaiv is located too close to the front line.
"We respond that this is a risk we are willing to take, and we have already achieved some success," stated the ambassador.
