In Kyiv, a retrospective exhibition of artist Ivan Marchuk's work, titled "The Cosmic Mystery of Life," has opened, featuring over 180 pieces from various periods of his career.
This information comes from the Kyiv City State Administration.
The exhibition showcases 15 cycles of Ivan Marchuk's work, including more than 180 paintings. Among them are landscapes of Ukrainian villages, realistic and fantastical flowers, abstract surrealism, spectacular expressions, unique "tangled" still lifes, and "blind" sketches.
"The goal of the project 'Ivan Marchuk. The Cosmic Mystery of Life' is to explore who had the greatest influence on the artist's work, what motivated him to make life-changing decisions, and what kept him creating even during times of persecution and prohibition. Each of Ivan Marchuk's paintings embodies his experiences and emotions: childhood and youth, the challenges of adult life, and all the feelings of his great soul," the statement reads.
The exhibition features works from seven Ukrainian museums and over 20 private collections. It includes both well-known pieces and those that have never been exhibited before.
The exhibition will run from August 7 to September 29 at the Museum and Exhibition Center at 7 Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street. It can be visited from Wednesday to Sunday, 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The ticket office is open from 12:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
