Ukraine will introduce scanning systems for inspecting railway cars and containers for the first time.
According to the State Customs Service,
"T"The first railway scanners will appear in Ukraine by the end of 2025 to monitor trains arriving and departing from the 'Mostyska-2' and 'Yagodyn' railway stations on the Polish border. In addition, negotiations are ongoing with international partners regarding the supply of stationary scanning systems for inspecting railway cars at border checkpoints with Slovakia and Romania. The scanning process will be fully automated, operating around the clock with the ability for bidirectional scanning," stated the Head of the State Customs Service, Serhiy Zvyahintsev.
The scanning systems will allow checking the contents of a railcar without additional interference, in accordance with the documents declared. This initiative aims to detect potential risks associated with smuggling, including tobacco products, narcotics, and more.
Negotiations are also ongoing for new scanners at border checkpoints with Slovakia and Romania.
The process will be fully automated, operating around the clock with the capability of bidirectional scanning.
The high resolution of the images will help customs officers identify small concealed elements within the carriages' structures, such as in the floor or walls.
