The first wind power plant in the Carpathian Mountains of Zakarpattia has begun operating.
According to a report from the State Geology and Mineral Resources Agency on Telegram, the plant is currently running in test mode with a capacity of 1.8 MW.
It is equipped with a 4.8 MW turbine, has a tower height of 120 meters, and a rotor diameter of 152 meters. One such wind turbine has the potential to supply electricity to up to 3,000 households.
The planned total installed capacity of the wind farm will be 80 MW, with enough electricity generated annually to supply 50,000 households.
The launch of this facility is a significant step in the development of wind energy in Ukraine and contributes to reducing reliance on traditional energy sources, as noted by the State Geology and Mineral Resources Agency.
