The international group Vinos de la Luz has acquired the Ukrainian wine brand 46 Parallel.
This was reported by Uwines, citing the former owner of the brand, Anna Gorkun.
46 Parallel was founded in 2020. On December 12, 2024, the company signed an agreement to sell 100% of its shares to Vinos de la Luz.
"The very fact that during the war, a foreign investor is purchasing a Ukrainian business with the intention to develop it here in Ukraine, with a Ukrainian team, while maintaining the brand's philosophy of staying Proudly Ukrainian, is a victory and a tremendous achievement," adds Anna Gorkun.
Over the past four years, the Ukrainian brand 46 Parallel has launched distribution across Ukraine and won approximately 150 awards at wine competitions. The company's management has remained unchanged since its inception.
From Anna Gorkun's Facebook page:
"What we have achieved in 4 years:
- We entered the market during the COVID year. We built a distribution network across Ukraine during the pandemic, when no one wanted to work with new brands.
- We survived all the challenges of a three-year war. We didn’t shut down, didn’t disappear, but grew stronger and became even more prominent in the premium category.
- We consistently released new premium wine releases, each of which won medals. Today, 46 Parallel has no wine that hasn’t been awarded. In just 4 years, our wine portfolio has won around 150 medals.
- We retained our team. The core management of 46 Parallel has remained unchanged since the company's founding and continues to be united under the new ownership. This will help preserve the strength of the brand, relationships with clients and partners, and ensure continuity in our strategy."
The Vinos de La Luz group consists of several wineries that produce high-quality wines under their own brand in the best wine regions of the Old and New Worlds: Ribera del Duero (Peñafiel, Spain), Tuscany (Siena, Italy), Uco Valley (Mendoza, Argentina), and Santa Maria (California, USA).
Vinos de La Luz is also developing its own brand in Ukraine under the name Big Wines, with labels featuring works by Ukrainian artist Ivan Marchuk. In 2024, the company acquired around 90 hectares of vineyards in the Odessa region (Bessarabia) and plans to build a winery near Kyiv.
