The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and approved the deployment of the PROTECTOR unmanned ground vehicle system in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The heavy unmanned ground system PROTECTOR was developed by a domestic enterprise based on the real combat experience of Ukrainian soldiers, aiming to ensure the safety of troops during logistics and combat missions in any terrain and under any weather conditions.
Tasks PROTECTOR can perform include transporting ammunition or equipment, evacuating the wounded, serving as a platform for a robotic combat module, mobile electronic warfare (EW) and electronic countermeasure (ECM) systems, among others.
This remotely controlled platform has a payload capacity of up to 700 kg and a range of up to 400 km. The vehicle is equipped with a powerful internal combustion engine and features high off-road capability. Its all-wheel drive allows it to overcome significant obstacles and water crossings, while RunFlat tires enable continued movement even if damaged.
“Essentially, this is a new branch in the development of unmanned ground complexes — a full-size unmanned vehicle. It offers new capabilities for our troops, allowing them to carry out dangerous tasks without risking personnel. It is important for technologies to get closer to the trenches so that innovative tools of war work more for and on behalf of the soldiers. Combat outposts must be maximally reinforced with robotic systems,” said Deputy Minister of Defense Valeriy Churkіn.
