On August 26, the team from Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, led by Minister Oleksiy Sobolev, met with ambassadors from the G7 countries and the EU.

Representatives from the embassies of Canada, the EU, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, and France attended the event. The Ukrainian side presented the ministry’s key priorities and introduced the team of the newly merged ministry.

“Currently, the Ministry of Economy faces the task of creating a fundamentally new institutional platform. The ministry oversees 70% of the content of European integration, covering 15 out of 35 EU clusters in key areas of the economy, environment, and agriculture. As the national coordinator for implementing the Ukraine Facility program, we organize and conduct monitoring of the Ukraine Plan. Today, our team is focused on accelerating the implementation of the Plan’s steps and further EU integration,” said Oleksiy Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The minister also outlined key priorities, including:

  • Development of the private sector and industry;
  • Deregulation and economic freedom;
  • Privatization of state property;
  • Attracting investment and developing exports;
  • Digitalization, including two mechanisms for collecting business feedback;
  • Humanitarian demining;
  • Development of human capital and the new Labor Code;
  • State support programs for farmers in frontline areas.

Ambassadors from the G7 countries and the EU expressed their support for the ministry’s strategic priorities and their readiness to provide guidance and cooperate to achieve the stated goals. For certain reforms, the parties agreed to deepen cooperation, particularly in privatization, anti-corruption measures, and deregulation.

Minister Sobolev also highlighted major international events planned for this year in G7 countries: the Ukraine Mine Action Conference (UMAC 2025) in Tokyo in October, the ReBuild Ukraine forum in Warsaw in November, the German-Ukrainian Business Forum in Berlin in December, and several others.

The minister thanked the G7 representatives for their in-depth work with each country, their support in implementing reforms, their expertise, and their assistance in Ukraine’s recovery.
