Today, Deputy Minister of Energy for European Integration Yaroslav Demchenkov and Manal Fouani, acting UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine discussed strengthening cooperation between the institutions and signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The parties agreed to cooperate in the preparation and implementation of the Program of Urgent Response to Threats to the Energy Sector during the War and its Postwar Recovery and Development.

Cooperation with UNDP should be one of the available tools for the rapid reconstruction of damaged and destroyed energy generation facilities and networks. And also to prepare for the post-war reconstruction of the energy sector on the principles of sustainable development, which will make Ukraine's energy system more resilient to environmental, technical, social and managerial risks.

The memorandum defines specific areas of cooperation, in particular:

• Assessment of damage to energy infrastructure caused by hostilities.

• Development of a roadmap for emergency response and recovery of the country's energy sector.

• Creating preconditions for attracting funding from public and private sources to support the implementation of the Program.

The Ministry of Energy will also continue to cooperate with UNDP in the implementation of sustainable development goals, in particular, to provide Ukrainians with affordable, reliable, sustainable energy.

"Our goal is not only to maintain the stability of the energy sector during the war, but to prepare to effectively rebuild the energy sector after the war. I am confident that strengthening cooperation with the UN Development Program will help restore the country's energy infrastructure and strengthen energy independence by increasing the country's energy efficiency and implementing a "green" energy transition," Yaroslav Demchenkov said.
