The leading role among the ambassadors of the G7 countries in Ukraine has passed from the Italian embassy to the Canadian embassy, in line with the upcoming change of the G7 presidency.

This was announced in a joint X (Twitter) post by the G7 ambassadors in Ukraine.

"As the year ends,, the Italian embassy in Ukraine is handing over the presidency of the Group to the Canadian embassy. We’re grateful for constant cooperation during 2024. G7 support for Ukraine reamins unwavering and Italian team in Kyiv will keep working with partners for a sustainable, just, and lasting peace," the post stated.

The presidency of the G7 rotates from country to country every year, starting on January 1.
