The Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine has arrested another member of the LPR terrorist organization in Odessa. The perpetrator is a local resident and an ideological supporter of the Kremlin regime. During the mass disturbances in Odessa at the beginning of May 2014, he actively participated in provocations in favor of Russia.
To evade responsibility for his crimes, he fled to the temporarily occupied part of the Luhansk region, where he joined the ranks of militants. There, he was appointed as the commander of an intelligence unit within the Russia-controlled "Prizrak" (Ghost) group, which was later subordinated to the command of the 2nd Army Corps of the aggressor country.
Since then, the individual under the pseudonym "Santa" fought against Ukrainian forces in the east of our country, including in the area of the Bahmut.
However, later on, the militant decided to leave his leaders and secretly traveled to the territory controlled by Ukraine, returning to Odessa. In the city, he attempted to "lay low" in order to avoid justice. During searches at the perpetrator's locations in the regional center, photographic evidence of his involvement in the terrorist LPR was found.
SSU investigators have informed the suspect of the charges under Article 258-3 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization). Currently, he is in custody. The perpetrator faces up to 15 years in prison with property confiscation
