The counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) thwarted new attempts by the Russians to obtain current data about the defense of Mykolaiv. As a result of proactive measures, a 31-year-old local informant for the Russian Federation was detained in the regional center, who had been adjusting strikes on the defenders of the port city.
The main targets of the Russian forces were the locations with the highest concentration of personnel and military equipment of the Ukrainian forces.
In order for the Russians to carry out strikes "bypassing" the air defense, the informant was also trying to detect the positions of radar stations and anti-aircraft missile systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as the routes of mobile fire support groups.
The informant gathered additional information during casual conversations with local residents.
The SSU officers uncovered the informant at the initial stages of his reconnaissance activity, documented it, and took measures to secure the defense forces' positions.
At the final stage of the special operation, the SSU counterintelligence detained the individual at his residence in Mykolaiv.
According to case materials, the informant worked for traitor Serhiy Lebedev (codename "Lohmatyi"), who is hiding in Donetsk and works for both the FSB and the Russian military intelligence. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the SSU has already exposed more than 30 informants from "Lohmatyi's" network.
During a search, computer equipment and a phone with evidence of his subversive activities on behalf of the Russian forces were seized from the detainee.
The SSU investigators notified him of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement or deployment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces or other military formations established under Ukrainian law, committed during martial law).
The suspect has been taken into custody without the right to bail. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
