Cyber specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed another Russian agent in Kyiv. According to case materials, the suspect was gathering information about the security system of administrative buildings of the Defense Forces in the capital.
SSU officers detained the agent “in the act” while she was conducting reconnaissance near the Main Directorate of the National Guard.
According to her assignment, she was supposed to prepare and hand over to her handler a schematic plan showing the locations of checkpoints and staff parking around the perimeter of the defense facility.
The investigation revealed that the agent was collecting similar information about the Territorial Command Centers in various districts of Kyiv.
Available data indicate that the Russian forces intended to use this intelligence to plan new terrorist acts and airstrikes on Ukraine’s capital.
The agent was identified as a 36-year-old local freelancer recruited by the FSB. The foreign intelligence service recruited her remotely through an acquaintance from occupied Crimea who cooperates with Russia.
If she had completed the Russian tasks, the agent expected to be “evacuated” to Russia via third countries.
SSU officers thwarted the plans of the Russian forces and their accomplice. During a search, a smartphone used to communicate with the FSB handler was seized.
The SSU investigators have formally charged the detainee under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed during martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
