Counterintelligence of the Security Service detained an FSB informant who operated in Donetsk and Sumy. The perpetrator gathered intelligence on the locations of the Defense Forces and corrected Russian airstrikes.

The agent was particularly interested in the coordinates of Ukrainian troops in one of the hottest frontlines—Pokrovsk.

According to the case materials, the Russian agent was a 23-year-old resident of Pokrovsk. The FSB recruited him through a so-called "honey trap" while he was looking for a partner on dating sites.

A representative of the Russian special service contacted him and suggested getting to know each other "better."

Later, she instructed the young man to scout the area around Pokrovsk, where he covertly recorded the positions of the Defense Forces. The informant also reported back to the Russian forces about the consequences of Russian airstrikes on the city.

After his reconnaissance trips near the eastern front, the FSB "assigned" their informant to Sumy to monitor the activities of Ukrainian air defense along the border with Russia.

To carry out the hostile task, the perpetrator rented an apartment in the regional center and set up a surveillance point there.

On the windowsill, he placed a mobile phone with additional power sources, which conducted an online stream of airstrikes on the city for the FSB.

The SSU detained the informant and seized the phones he used in his espionage and subversive activities for Russia.

Investigators from the Security Service informed him of his suspicion under Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement or placement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations established under the laws of Ukraine, committed in conditions of martial law).

The perpetrator is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.
