The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained another agent of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (known as GRU) in Donetsk region.
The perpetrator assisted the aggressor in breaching the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense line on the Pokrovsky direction, which remains the hottest combat zone on the eastern front. On orders from Russian special services, the informant conducted reconnaissance of Ukrainian troop locations and movements near the frontlines. He particularly focused on fortified areas and artillery positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which control the fire zones against enemy assault groups. To identify 'necessary' locations, the suspect traversed the terrain on foot, covertly recording the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
This information was crucial for the Rusian forces in planning combat operations on the front, utilizing airstrikes, artillery bombardments, and sabotage groups.
Cyber specialists of the Security Service preemptively uncovered the aggressor's plans and apprehended their agent. Also, SSU operatives conducted measures to secure Ukrainian military locations.
Upon the detainee's capture, a mobile phone and bank cards were seized, which received monetary 'compensation' from Russian special services.
Based on gathered evidence, SSU investigators have informed the detainee of suspicion under Article 111 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed during wartime).
Currently, he is in custody facing potential life imprisonment.
