The state has contracted one million domestically produced drones for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine reports this.
"During the full-scale war, we have witnessed a true technological revolution. Two years ago, we started developing the UAV market almost from scratch and launched the Drone Army project in collaboration with the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense, the State Special Communications Service, and UNITED24," says the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
Currently, 96% of the UAVs purchased by the state are domestic. To open up the UAV market, conditions have been created for scaling production and over 20 revolutionary laws and regulations have been adopted, including:
- Simplified UAV operational approval;
- VAT and customs duties on UAV components abolished;
- Increased margin from 1% to 25%, compared to NATO countries' 17%;
- Transparent and accountable procurement processes;
- Creation of the world's first strike UAV battalions within the Army of Drones.
The procurement project, with a budget of 135 million hryvnias, has an estimated delivery deadline of November 15, 2024.
