The Ukrainian airline SkyUp has signed a contract with the Hungarian Wizz Air. As part of the agreement, SkyUp will lease three aircraft along with crews and technical specialists, according to the company's press release.

The deal will be governed by an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) agreement from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. Two aircraft will be based in Bucharest, and one will be in Warsaw.

SkyUp's CEO, Dmytro Seroukhov, stated that developing transport services under ACMI contracts is now a central component of the company's development strategy.

Before the full-scale war in Ukraine, SkyUp operated under a hybrid model, combining regular and charter flights. By February 14, 2022, the company had relocated its aircraft to Europe at the request of insurance companies.

With the closure of Ukrainian airspace, SkyUp Airlines' main activities shifted to ACMI contracts. These contracts involve one airline providing passenger transportation services to another airline using its aircraft and crews, explained SkyUp Airlines' Chief Operating Officer, Oleksandr Shafiyev.

SkyUp has already collaborated with various airlines, including Tunisair, FlyOne, HiSky SRL, HiSky Europe SRL, Wizz Air Malta, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, Corendon Dutch, Tailwind Airlines, and FlyEgypt.
