The Ukrainian House in Nice appeals for help

The Franco-Ukrainian Association of the Côte d’Azur (AFUCA) has issued an urgent call to the community to help find a new location for the Ukrainian House in Nice. The building where the center has operated since 2016 is set to be demolished, and a new site has not yet been secured.

According to AFUCA President Iryna Podyriako (Bourdel), who shared the appeal on the association’s Facebook page, the premises leased from the City of Nice will soon be vacated despite a year-long search for alternatives. For the nearly 15,000 Ukrainians living in the Alpes-Maritimes department, this space serves as a vital hub, a home, and a symbol of solidarity.

“This space is much more than just an office,” AFUCA emphasized. The Ukrainian House hosts French language courses for over 150 adults each year, weekly classes for 60 children adapting to new lives, and integration support for more than 5,000 people annually. Every month, 120 families receive food parcels, and since the full-scale war began, 39 humanitarian trucks have been sent to Ukraine from this very place.

The organization — which supports, unites, and assists Ukrainians across the French Riviera — stresses that a new space is crucial to “continue helping, teaching, sharing, and building bridges between France and Ukraine.”

AFUCA calls on everyone who cares to help find a new home so that the Ukrainian House can keep serving as a true house for all who believe in solidarity.

In September, Iryna Podyriako, President of AFUCA, was appointed Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Nice.
