The Verkhovna Rada plans to open its office in the European Parliament, announced the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk.

"We discussed very important issues with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metzola. That is, in Kyiv, there are plans to open the office of the European Parliament, and here, in the European Parliament, we plan to open the office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine," said Stefanchuk during a national telethon on Tuesday, informing about his working visit to Brussels.

The speaker of the Ukrainian parliament also discussed efforts to allow Ukrainian MPs "to be observers at the meetings of the European Parliament before Ukraine joins the EU so that we can implement our vision and procedures into those that exist in the European Parliament."

Stefanchuk also emphasized the need to standardize the activities of the Verkhovna Rada and the European Parliament.

"Therefore, we are currently studying the activities of the European Parliament to translate these norms and procedures into the activities of the Verkhovna Rada apparatus," noted Stefanchuk.

According to the head of the Verkhovna Rada, it is crucial for the Ukrainian parliament to meet the criteria of democratization and parliamentarism, as Ukraine integrates into Europe, and "we want to have full compatibility."

As reported, the European Parliament intends to open an office in Kyiv at the request of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Stefanchuk is in Brussels on a working visit from November 27 to 30.
