Advisor – Commissioner of the President of Ukraine on the Presidential Foundation for Support of Education, Science and Sports Olha Budnyk took part in a roundtable discussion to summarize the results of the launch of double degree programs with UK universities under the Twinning initiative.
During the roundtable, the first results of the program initiated by the President's Foundation for Support of Education, Science and Sports were presented. The double degree program with UK universities provides an opportunity to obtain higher education under the curriculum created and implemented by Ukrainian and British universities simultaneously. As a result of their studies, graduates receive diplomas from two higher education institutions. This is a chance for Ukrainian students to acquire educational competencies in Ukrainian and English that are recognized by both countries.
"The pace of internationalization of higher education and the first results of the double degree program demonstrated by our universities are very inspiring. We are confidently entering the international arena of educational services and not only strengthening the capacity of Ukrainian higher education institutions through partnerships with UK universities, but also making Ukrainian higher education attractive and accessible to foreign students," said Olha Budnyk.
As of today, 112 students are enrolled in the double degree program with UK universities under the Twinning initiative, and six partnerships between Ukrainian and British universities are being implemented: Sumy National Agrarian University and the Royal Agricultural University are implementing the program "Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security"; Kherson State Maritime Academy and the University of Plymouth - "Operation of Ship Power Plants"; Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas and the London South Bank University - "Information Technologies for Sustainable Energy Development"; Lviv Polytechnic National University and the Nottingham Trent University - "Psychological Wellbeing and Mental Health"; S. Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics and Abertay University - "MBA: Organizational Transformations and Sustainable Development", "Organizational Transformations and Cybersecurity"; Ukrainian Catholic University and the University of Nottingham - The Future of Heritage: Culture, History, Literature.
"This is a unique and equal program that creates an educational product with a shared core, which is of interest to both sides: Ukrainian universities and higher education institutions in the United Kingdom," emphasized Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykhailo Vynnytskyi.
The roundtable was organized by Cormack Consultancy Group with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the British academic community (online), and representatives of Ukrainian higher education institutions.
