On November 11, during an official working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, Taras Vysotskyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, met with Moussa Batraki, Secretary-General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS).

This meeting represents a key step in strengthening Ukraine’s international food diplomacy. Despite the ongoing full-scale war, Ukraine continues to be a major exporter of agricultural products to Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific region, contributing to global food stability.

During the meeting, both sides discussed joint approaches to enhancing global food security and explored opportunities to expand economic partnerships between Ukraine and OACPS member states. Particular attention was given to the potential transfer of technologies, knowledge, and innovations in agricultural production to develop the domestic agricultural capacity of Global South countries.

“Ukraine is not only a reliable food supplier but also a partner willing to share knowledge and technology to strengthen global food security. Dialogue with the OACPS opens new opportunities for cooperation with Global South countries—both in trade and in developing agricultural systems that can provide stability for millions of people worldwide,” said Taras Vysotskyi.

Strengthening cooperation with OACPS will help expand the geographical reach of Ukrainian agri-food exports, initiate joint projects for agricultural sector development, and reinforce Ukraine’s role as a guarantor of global food stability.

Vysotskyi invited the Secretary-General and OACPS members to participate in the International Food Security Summit “Food from Ukraine”, scheduled for November 19 in Kyiv under the auspices of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Background:
The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) is an international group of 79 member states that promotes political, economic, and social cooperation between Global South countries and the European Union. OACPS is a key EU partner in trade development, climate change mitigation, food security, and sustainable investment initiatives. Ukraine engages with OACPS as part of its efforts to expand international partnerships and the Food from Ukraine initiative, aimed at supporting countries facing food crises.
