During the Defense Industry Forum in Kyiv, a memorandum of cooperation in the defense sector was signed between Ukraine and Lithuania. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda announced this on social media.
"Employment in the defence industry is growing, and high-tech & engineering are helping develop modern battlefield solutions. United efforts will lead to Ukraine's victory! " emphasized the Lithuanian leader.
According to the Lithuanian President's press service, the memorandum of understanding regarding defense cooperation between the two countries was signed by the Lithuanian and Ukrainian Confederations of Industrialists.
In his opening speech, Nausėda highlighted that Ukraine's victory is "our only choice, and we must do everything possible and impossible to ensure Ukraine's victory."
He noted that achieving victory "requires mobilizing defense potential to provide well-equipped troops on the front lines, as well as developing new technologies, weapons, methods of warfare, and innovative approaches that will lead Ukraine to victory."
Lithuania has already allocated 2% of its GDP to Ukraine and aims to continue supporting at a level of 0.25% of GDP annually.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced on Facebook that he, along with the Lithuanian President, opened the Lithuanian-Ukrainian Defense Industry Business Forum in Kyiv today.
"I will start with great news – Lithuania is providing 10 million euros to fund our long-range capabilities, including the Palianytsia drone missile. This is tremendous support that will help Ukraine defend itself even more effectively," Umerov stated.
The Defense Minister thanked the Lithuanian people for their support and urged businesses to actively invest in the Ukrainian defense industry.
"Today's forum is a new stage in our cooperation. Together with our allies, we are capable of doing even more to protect Europe and punish the aggressor," he added.
