The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to create a joint Ukrainian-Moldovan commission for the construction of a bridge over the Dniester River in the Yampil-Cosăuţi area.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting.
"This will be a key link in the transport corridor between Kyiv and Chișinău," he said.
The Prime Minister noted that systematic updates of checkpoints on the border with Moldova are ongoing with the support of USAID and the European Union.
He also emphasized that logistics in the western direction is another priority for the government.
"On the border with Poland, in accordance with the concluded security agreement, we will expand rail and road connections. In particular, another railway checkpoint will be opened at Nyzhankovychi-Malhowice," said Shmyhal.
The eQueue system is scalable and already operates at 28 checkpoints. Nearly 1.4 million trucks and 100,000 buses have used it, providing additional convenience and speed in crossing the state border, added Shmyhal.
It is worth noting that in 2023, the Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Moldova on the construction of a road border bridge crossing over the Dniester River in the area of Yampil-Cosăuţi.
According to the document, it is planned to allocate 5.044 billion hryvnias from the special fund of the state budget for the construction of the bridge.
