During a working visit to Norway, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik, after which the two sides signed a memorandum on implementing unified quality standards for defense products.

“Following the meeting, we signed a memorandum on unified quality standards for defense products produced or supplied under our agreements. We must ensure that our forces are equipped exclusively with high-quality weaponry,” Shmyhal said.

He also expressed gratitude for Norway’s significant support and the invitation to the meeting of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) defense ministers, in which Ukraine will participate for the first time.

“Another important step is the memorandum between Ukrainian and Norwegian companies to establish a joint defense enterprise in Ukraine. This will strengthen our defense-industrial potential,” the minister emphasized.

He noted that priority needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the strengthening of air defense were also discussed.

“Ukraine is ready to share its experience in countering enemy drones. Another topic is enhancing long-range capabilities,” Shmyhal added.

He also highlighted that Sandvik confirmed continued support for Ukraine and announced a decision to allocate $7 billion next year for defense needs.

“I am grateful to the government and people of Norway for their significant contribution, the provision of F-16s and support for Ukrainian aviation, participation in the PURL initiative, and the Maritime Capabilities Coalition,” the minister said.
