Ukraine and Poland will set up a joint logistics company to dramatically increase the volume of rail transportation of Ukrainian exports to the EU and world markets through Europe. The relevant memorandum was signed today by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal and the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki in Krakow.

The creation of such a joint venture is a response of the railways to the challenges posed by Russian aggression to both countries. In particular, it is necessary to expand the railways for goods that cannot be delivered through the ports blocked by the Russians and because of the blocking of the part of the railway network of Ukraine, which today no longer has connections with Russia and Belarus.

Ukraine and Poland have agreed to work together to increase freight traffic across Ukraine's western border, working together to address technical and organizational issues - different customs regulations, the use of different tracks, and the search for free-rolling stock. An effective and quick solution to these problems is possible if Ukrainian and Polish specialists work together.

"We started preparing the concept of a joint venture with our Polish colleagues a week after the start of the war. Combining the experience and knowledge of Ukrzaliznytsia managers and Polish colleagues will allow us to formulate unique logistics proposals for the European and global market, which refuses Russian supplies and Russian logistics," said Oleksandr Kamyshin, Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia.

Joint management of Ukrainian and Polish railways will allow to create convenient and straightforward logistics solutions - from the supplier in Ukraine to the consumer anywhere in the world. Combined experience and resources will provide consumers with the highest quality service.

"This project demonstrates our approach to working with European partners. We are ready to invest and earn together, building strong ties with Europe and the world. Ukraine is ready to work together to expand the welfare and strengthen the economic security of Ukrainians and citizens of EU countries," said Oleksandr Kamyshin.

Work on the establishment of such a joint venture will begin immediately to open as soon as possible the potential for economic cooperation, modernization of railway infrastructure, and increase in traffic both across the border and across the EU.
