Minister of Health Viktor Liashko held a meeting with representatives of the South Korean international charitable organization Good Friends International (GFI) to strengthen cooperation in healthcare, particularly in rehabilitation and humanitarian medical projects.
Deputy Minister of Health Yevhenii Honchar also took part in the meeting. The GFI delegation included General Director Yi Jimmy Kiwon, Chief Executive Officer in Ukraine Paul Chung, and other representatives and medical experts from South Korea.
During the talks, the parties agreed to begin preparing a memorandum of cooperation. One of the main focuses of the partnership will be sharing experience in rehabilitation, including training programs for Ukrainian doctors in South Korean medical institutions to exchange practical expertise.
They also discussed introducing advanced methods for treating combat injuries, including digital tools for post-traumatic disorder therapy.
Minister Liashko expressed his gratitude to South Korean partners for their consistent support and assistance since the start of the full-scale invasion.
“We highly appreciate the efforts of our partners from the Republic of Korea, who have supported the Ukrainian healthcare system during these extremely challenging times. Together, we are building a strong and modern healthcare system capable of providing quality care even under the most difficult conditions,” said Viktor Liashko.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, GFI has been actively operating in Ukraine, implementing several initiatives to support the healthcare system and assist war victims.
In 2024–2025, GFI delivered medical supplies and equipment worth over 2.7 million dollars, supported eight hospitals in the most affected regions, and launched a combat injury treatment program with the support of the Government of the Republic of Korea.
The Ministry of Health continues its systematic work to develop rehabilitation care and introduce modern medical practices. Cooperation with Good Friends International will further strengthen Ukraine’s healthcare capacity to meet wartime challenges and ensure high-quality recovery for both military personnel and civilians according to global standards.
