Ukraine expects to receive about 1.8 million artillery shells under the Czech initiative by the end of this year.

This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sybiha, at a joint press conference in Kyiv with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský.

“Czechia is making practical contributions to our common security and defense. Thanks to the Czech shell initiative launched in 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are to receive about 1.8 million artillery shells by the end of this year,” Sybiha said.

He added that this is not just assistance, but a vital contribution to Ukraine’s defense.

“The supply of ammunition purchased with frozen Russian assets is an example of Czechia’s decisive and bold actions. Thank you. We welcome the continuation of the shell initiative,” the Ukrainian foreign minister noted.

Last year Czechia, with the support of its allies, launched an initiative to purchase ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces from third countries. As a result, Ukraine received approximately 1.5 million shells of various calibers last year
