The North Atlantic Council of NATO has approved Ukraine's application to join the Federated Mission Networking (FMN) as an affiliated participant.

FMN is a key multinational initiative of NATO member states and partners on interoperability of communication and information systems in multinational operations, particularly under NATO leadership. The community already comprises 38 participants and aims to facilitate more efficient information exchange and provide command and control during operations.

Member states implement common standards, protocols, and procedures to ensure interoperability.

"We are grateful to our partners for this important signal of support. Ukraine's accession to FMN is another proof of our readiness to contribute to Euro-Atlantic security and share our experience with partners. Our teams have repeatedly demonstrated the interoperability of our systems during NATO CWIX joint exercises, and we are ready to deepen our work in this direction," said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Kateryna Chernogorenko, thanking partners.

The Ministry of Defense submitted a Letter of Intent regarding accession to FMN in November 2022. Since the submission of the Letter of Intent, Ukraine has been an Observer at FMN. Obtaining the status of an affiliated participant will allow Ukraine to participate in decision-making processes and contribute to the development of interoperability requirements.
