In 2022, Ukraine obtained the right for duty-free food exports to the EU, and in the current year, it has become one of the largest suppliers of agricultural products to the European Union, according to a report by the European Commission, as reported by the Polish publication farmer.pl.

"Ukraine is among the top three suppliers of agricultural products to the EU, according to the European Commission's report on international trade. In the period from January to September of the current year, the EU increased its import of agricultural products from Ukraine by 11% compared to 2022," the publication stated.

The value of Ukrainian agro-exports to the EU reached 8.75 billion euros in January-September 2023.

"Imports from Ukraine showed growth in the period from January to September compared to 2022 (+891 million euros, or +11%), mostly due to increased grain imports," the European Commission's report, cited by the publication, mentioned.

The largest surge in imports was recorded in the first half of the year. However, by June, imports had fallen below the 2022 level, and in September, it almost returned to the level of 2021, according to the European Commission.

At the end of January-September, Ukraine ranked third among the largest suppliers of agricultural products to the EU, behind only Brazil and the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Ukraine ranks 14th among recipients of agricultural products from the European Union. In January-September, Ukraine imported products from the EU worth 2.5 billion euros, which is 19% more than in the same period in 2022, according to farmer.pl.
