Ukrainian forces have been armed with the new French loitering munition MV-25 OSKAR, part of the MATARIS drone series.

According to KNDS France, the drone has already received positive feedback from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The MATARIS line of loitering munitions was developed by KNDS France in partnership with DELAIR and EOS Technologie. It includes four models designed for various operational tasks over short and medium ranges:

  • MT-10: rotary-wing with a 10 km range
  • MV-100 VELOCE 330: fixed-wing with a 100 km range
  • MV-25 OSKAR: fixed-wing with a 25 km range
  • MX-10 DAMOCLES: quadcopter-wing with a 10 km range

The entire lineup was developed at record speed to quickly fill gaps in the French military’s arsenal. The MX-10 DAMOCLES, built in just 12 months, is expected to enter service with the French army in July 2025. DELAIR produces the wing for this model, while the fragmentation-incendiary warhead is made by KNDS Ammo France. The MX-10 is designed to neutralize infantry units, unarmored and lightly armored vehicles.

“MV-25 OSKAR: Operational in Ukraine. Only two years passed between the start of development and operational deployment in Ukraine,” KNDS stated.

The OSKAR successfully completed a test flight with a live warhead in June 2024.
