Ukraine has managed to repatriate the bodies of 250 fallen defenders as a result of repatriation efforts.
This was reported by the press service of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
The bodies of the fallen were repatriated from various regions, including Luhansk, Bakhmut, Maryinka, Avdiivka, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia areas, as well as from Mariupol, Horlivka, and morgues in Russia.
The process of returning the bodies was facilitated by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Ministry of Reintegration, the Commissioner for Missing Persons, the Joint Center at the SSU, the Civil-Military Cooperation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other law enforcement agencies, and international organizations.
The transfer of bodies was conducted in accordance with the norms of the Geneva Conventions. The repatriated bodies and remains will be transported to the appropriate state institutions, where law enforcement representatives and forensic experts will identify them.
After identification, the bodies of the fallen defenders will be handed over to their families for a dignified burial.
