On the night of February 26, Krasnodar Krai was subjected to a massive attack by Ukrainian drones. According to Shot, at least five explosions occurred in Anapa, and more than 40 in Tuapse. The targets of the drones included the Tuapse seaport and the oil refinery of Rosneft, which was previously attacked by drones last summer.
In response to the attack, the "carpet plan" was implemented at Sochi Airport, restricting flights. Additionally, a "drone danger mode" was declared in North Ossetia and other regions of the North Caucasus Federal District. Passenger flights were suspended in Mineralnye Vody, Nalchik, Grozny, and Vladikavkaz. As a result of the attack, residential buildings were damaged in several municipalities, but no casualties were reported, according to the Governor of Krasnodar Krai, Veniamin Kondratiev.
According to the information of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, the oil terminal in the port of Tuapse is one of the largest in Russia.
"Through the port, oil and petroleum products are transported, making it important for Russia's energy sector. The port handles significant volumes of coal, mineral fertilizers, metal products, and grain," said Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko.
According to the head of the CPD, the Tuapse port is a logistics hub connected to Russia's railway network, allowing the transportation of goods from central and southern regions of Russia.
"The port plays an important role in supporting military logistics. It is used for the transportation of equipment, ammunition, and fuel for military purposes. It ensures the material and technical supply for the Russian Black Sea Fleet, including those involved in the war against Ukraine," Kovalenko concluded.
